- Instead of creating a new Twitter account, you can
head over to the ‘http://www.twitter.com’ on your web
browser.
- First,
you need to open the “Settings and privacy” section by clicking on
your profile icon at the top-right part of the page, and revealing the drop-down
menu. The section is located on that list.
- You
will see the ‘Account’ tab in that section. There you can browse and change Twitter handle, default email
address, some security details, and privacy settings.
- Under
the ‘Account’ tab, click the text box beside the “Username” part and
type a new username for your account.
- If
the username is taken, Twitter will ask you to create a new one. If the desired
username is available, Twitter will let you change Twitter @.
- Do not forget to click
the button “Save changes” button. Otherwise, your changes will be
lost after you leave the page.
Twitter will do its best to keep track of your replies and mentions, so you do not lose anything at all. Older mentions containing you will still display your old name. However, when someone clicks on that old username, they will still land on your page.
